It’s no secret that my priorities were messed up prior to getting into real estate. When I was a General Contractor, my motto was, “without work there is nothing else.” When I reflect on my beliefs and priorities at that point in my life, it seems like such a sad way to live.
If you read my book or know my story, you know about the loss I had with my first business, my lowest point, and the awakening I had when I really took a deep look at myself and re-evaluated everything I believed in. Dealing with financial loss and struggling to find my way back to stability and eventually success was an extremely difficult journey. Nevertheless, I am blessed and fortunate that I went through that difficult period of time, because it helped me get my priorities right.
What matters the most to you? Have you thought about it, or asked yourself this question recently? What are you most thankful for this year? Although 2020 has been the strangest year ever, this Thanksgiving I am very grateful as always for my healthy family. No matter how involved I am with my own business, they will always be a top priority for me.
As you reflect on the questions above, try to determine if you’re prioritizing the things in your life that you value and the people who matter the most. If you’re not giving the right amount of time and attention to the things that matter most to you, and things like business or making money always take the priority, then this is an area of your life that you need to work on sooner rather than later.
One can have all the money in the world, but if they have no one to share it with, then what’s the point? Money comes and goes, but good solid relationships, strong values and beliefs, and enjoying life to the fullest are things that are priceless.
