Chances are that some people reading this will be offended and won't like it, but that's ok cause I'm not here to please everyone. I'm here to be real with you and tell you how it is.
Oftentimes, a lot of the people who come to me for advice are super skeptical about changing their life for the better. In these situations I know they can, cause I’ve seen it happen many times before. Absolutely anyone can turn their life around for the better no matter what situation they are in. That might look different from person to person, but it’s always possible. So when I come across someone who is skeptical about making positive changes in their life, I noticed that it takes getting very real with them to get this message through.
For example, a while back I was talking with someone who was in a very dark place in their personal life. They had a variety of things they needed to work through, and needed some guidance on how to move forward. As we were talking and creating a plan, I realized I needed to make this person understand why they needed to change in a very direct way. I asked them if in that very moment, their children would be proud of them, and it seemed to click. This person had a lightbulb moment where they finally realized what I was getting at. If your children or family would not be proud of you at any given moment, then you need to change.
This is applicable in anything we do in life. It’s easy to fall into a victim mentality when you’re going through a dark time and you feel hopeless. But the point I’m making here is that you’re not. There is always something you can do, no matter how small, to start taking steps toward positive change. It won’t be easy, and it’ll take a lot of grit, dedication and strength. But once you’ve reached your goals and made the changes you needed to make for success, I promise you’ll be super happy you didn’t give up and kept going.
